SAP Business One on Windows 7 is a hot topic right now, so we thought we'd post an update. Now that Windows 7 has been available for some time and the early adopters have bore the brunt of exploring a new OS, businesses are taking a closer look.
Orchestra has a few techies on staff that are a bit maniacal about their computers, so we've gone ahead and tried just about everything on Windows 7 and even gone through the experience of uprading Vista to Windows 7. To take it further, one person here even switched from Linux to Windows 7, whom I must keep secret for fear that a giant penguin might hunt him down in his sleep.

SAP Business One Support for Windows 7
At this time, Windows 7 is not yet supported by SAP for SAP Business One, and rightfully so. The new OS has only been available for a few months and there is still testing, verification, and other due diligence to be done before a company like SAP announces it is supported. However, I'm sure we'll see support for Windows 7 happen, as it is obviously the OS of choice going forward for the typical business and home Windows user.

In closing, Windows 7 has pleasantly surprised us here at Orchestra and it actually kind of felt good to tell people that the new Windows product was something to seriously consider as a step in the right direction. When tech nerds and opens source fanatics start to use your very closed source product in the daily lives, it's safe to say that you did something right.
Orchestra will continue to explore using Windows 7 in our daily business activities and we'll update everyone as we learn more about what works great on the new OS and what doesn't.
One thing we can say at this point, is SAP Business One 2007 and SAP Business One 8.8 both work just fine on Windows 7.
